MicroAge Equips Physicians Resource Center with EMR Solutions

Diagnosing the Right Solution

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) products are tremendous assists to health care professionals and organizations for streamlining data and providing faster, better care for patients. Yet the choices and range of products and services can be overwhelming. That’s where this particular MicroAge client comes in: the company developed its own resource center to allow medical providers to explore all the technologies in a hands-on environment.

The client approached MicroAge as a resource to select appropriate suppliers. Since MicroAge has relationships with numerous manufacturers, the client felt confident in receiving unbiased recommendations that would truly fit its end users’ needs.

MicroAge Solutions Expert, Lori DeLuca, recommended perpetuating the same attitude for the client’s resource center. In this way, as end users set up their own practices’ technology profiles or add more resources, they will have a continuous variety of EMR products from which to choose. As an extension of this approach, the client provides customers with the opportunity to ‘test drive’ such products before purchasing. Physicians and other health care professionals have the freedom to test out tablets, scanners, clinical information systems, hygienic and cleanable keyboards, patient safety products, electronic health records, and many other offerings. Since there are no IT teams, suppliers or salespeople on site, end users can explore products without outside pressure to buy any particular item. This enables customers to make educated decisions about what will best fit their needs in a calm and rational environment.

As products are constantly upgraded and improved, Lori communicates regularly with the client about these developments. The client appreciates this service as the rapid development rate of new products makes its challenging to stay current. Among many others, these particular suppliers, products and services are already meeting the needs of the client and its health care end users:

  • Fujitsu
  • Man & Machine
  • Ergotron
  • OKI Digital Pen Systems
  • Dragon Dictation Word Recognition Software Stations

The physicians’ resource center has been very well received; in fact, it has been so successful that the client is expanding facilities to guide and train physicians on the various technologies with one-on-one classes. In support of that initiative, Lori recently helped the client set up large flat-panel screens to stream product videos and functionalities to assist in the education process.

The really exciting part about this solution is its unique profile; it’s a great thing to get positive, measurable results for all involved. In other words, it was just what the doctor ordered!
